Fourth Week's Lessons 9/25 - 9/29

Don't forget we are in the Library Monday typing.

You have two test this Friday: Unit One Vocabulary Test and Multiple Paragraph Essay terms, from your lecture. Remember you are responsible to make up anything that you miss because of an absence. You must see me before school, at break, before class, or after class, not during class after the bell has rung.

Back to school night Wednesday - 25 extra points - Your parents need to sign in and have your name plate. I look forward to meeting your parents.

Wednesday 9/27

2. Rewrite "This year in school ______" journal in your second section of your spiral notebook
3. Read The Necklace and discuss the concept of "Irony" in the story.
4. Finish Unit 1 Vocabulary, Part D page 20 - 23 (Homework)
5. Work on Necklace Packet (Homework)

Thursday 9/28
1. Review Vocabulary and Pre-test vocabulary, plus Vocabulary Bingo
2. Collective Learning Groups (Review Spiral Notebooks and "The Necklace" Packet)
3. Finish Packet and Study (Homework)

Friday 9/29
1. Vocabulary and Essay Terms Tests (200 points)
2. Review and grade "The Necklace" Packet
3. Do Unit 2 Vocabulary Part A and B (due Monday) Homework 25 points

This week you will know your grade. You will always know you grade every week in this class. No one did any extra credit last week. At the end of every quarter there will not be any extra credit, so take advantage while I have projects and points out there.

Please if you have questions come for help. This Friday you have a 100 point Vocabulary Test over Prefixes and Suffixes. See me in the morning for extra credit. Have your Vocabulary book and spiral notebook in class.

Wecome First week's lessons 9/5 - 9/8

Welcome to El Dorado!

I will usually be in my room by 7 am. I might be in the office for a few minutes picking up daily paper work, but I will be back. Your questions are important; I want you to understand what we are doing, and to succeed. You can also see me at Break, but the time is limited. I do not check my email everyday, so make sure you talk to me if you have problems. Let the fun begin.

Print the lessons every week and glue stick them in your spiral notebook


Tuesday 9/5
1. Introductions and check phone numbers
2. Discuss "Guidelines" (have a parent sign them) - Homework
3. Share your summer
4. Get 3 section spiral notebook college rule paper(extra credit 25 points – by Friday)

Wednesday 9/6
1. Guidelines due
2. PowerPoint Overview of the class and what we will be doing.
3. Poems: "I Can" and "Risk"
4. Rewrite "Risk" from your point of view - Homework
5. Fill out Reading Cards - make sure you have a reading book in class everyday.

Thursday 9/7
1. Review your poems
2. Read and discuss "The Race"
3. Type a paragraph describing a personal situation that was similar to "The Race". Use: when, where, who, and how. -Homework

Friday 9/8
1. Review homework
2. Set up Portfolios
3. Grammar quiz (Spell Checker)

Vocabulary starts Monday, make sure you have your Orange Vocabulary Book in class.
