2nd semester 2nd week's lessons 2/2 - 2/6 - 2009

I am glad you are in my class, and I enjoyed our week together last week. This week we want to get going and start working on our reading, vocabulary, and writing. Do you have all your materials for class (SSR book)? Jonas Salk said, "There are two lasting things we can give our children: One is roots, the other is wings." I hope from this class you have both. You are a part of El Dorado and also a part of me; I look forward to you doing many great thing, here and in the future. Let's take it to the next level.

Friday 2/6

2. Start “Hesperus” Essay Brain storm and develop a Thesis statement (homework)

2nd semester - 1st week's lesson 1/26 - 1/30 -2009

Remember when you are absent you need to make up your reading time and tests in the morning (7:25 am). Please let's get off to a great start.

Poetry Week #1

Welcome back! I hope you all enjoyed your Winter Break. We are now in the new year with only two weeks before semester finals! Our final unit for the first semester is poetry. We will be highlighting a few important poets, their poetry, and writing our own. You will compose a poetry journal as your final major project.

We will also be starting to work in the vocabulary workbooks. You will be flying through them so please stay on top of your work. If you bring your vocabulary workbook to school with you on Monday, you will earn 5 extra credit points.

This is what our first week back will look like:

Monday, January 5
1. Intro to Poetry (notetaking)
2. Begin Vocabulary Lesson 1 & 2

3. Pass out Poetry Unit Calendars
HOMEWORK: Complete Vocab Lessons 1 & 2.


Tuesday, January 6
1. Discuss Robert Frost
2. Discuss Name and Description poem
3. Review Lesson 1 & 2

HOMEWORK: Write Name poem and Description poem.

2. Discuss Parody and Limerick poem
3. Vocabulary Lesson 3 & 4
