Activities for week eighteen 1/19 - 1/22 - 2010
This is the finish of the first semester. I hope you learned somethings and had some fun. Moliere said, "Men are alike in their promises. It is only their deeds that they differ." Please check Aeries to make sure your deeds for this class were recorded correctly. For extra credit (25 points) you may print your grade from Aeries and have your parents write me a note on the back of the printout about what they think of your grade and your effort in this class. (Your essay for Tangerine is still being graded and can change your grade, because it, as you know, is worth 200 points.) (Please have their signature and print their name also, so I can read who the note it from.)

Food Pantry

Families
The Assessment Center has a food pantry that we are filling with just thefor PYLUSD McKinney Vento
Families
basics. The food is distributed to needy families, with students in our schools,
who have been identified as McKinney Vento eligible. To be in the program a
student must lack fixed, regular, or adequate housing due to economic
hardship. We would love it if you would think of us the next time you are in the
Costco or Sam’s. However, due to limited space and health considerations, we
are accepting donations for the following food staples only:
• dried beans, rice in bags
• cooking oil
• oatmeal
• pasta (spaghetti, macaroni)
• tomato sauce
• garbanzo beans and lentils
• canned vegetable soup
• boxed cereals (healthy only)
• canned mixed vegetables
• sugar
• baby food in jars, and formula
• crackers (Saltines, Ritz)
• canned tuna
• small bags of flour
We are located at 3232 Topaz Lane next door to Topaz Elementary School in the bungalows on Sapphire Street
on the corner of Topaz Lane and Sapphire. Our phone number is 714-986-7028. We distribute food all year
long, so if you would, keep us in mind throughout the year! Your donations help families who have lost their
income due to job loss during these tough economic times. A bag of groceries can keep several kids fed for a
few days which is often all that it takes for a family who is desperate and in transition. Our families truly appreciate
the help that we give them. We are not a “crutch” or a social service, just a helping hand during a crisis.
Any donations at all are greatly appreciated! As always, food gift cards from local grocery stores are welcome
donations! Send them through district mail to Jon Matson at the Assessment Center.
