Aloha, we are starting a new quarter - let's get off to a great start. We are also starting "The National Honors Society Canned Food Drive" The drive is from 11/6 - 11/17, and the food is donated to needy families in the area. Finally we are starting to read and study Charles Dickens's Great Expectations
Monday 11/6
1. Review Spelling Test
2. Clean backpack and review first quarter
3. Read and discuss "The Wreck of the Hesperus"
4. Spelling corrections (homework)
Tuesday 11/7
1. Printout of first quarter grade (homework - parent signature)
1. Vocabulary Bee
2. Review "Hesperus" Packet
3. "Hesperus" Test
4. Pre-write and outline for essay on "The Wreck of the Hesperus" (homework)
Wednesday 11/8
1. Review Reading Test
2. Journal - listen to CD on "integrity" and Quick write about "integrity" – When you build a house you must build both the exterior and the interior. What are you building?
3. Discuss handout on the body paragraph
4. Write "Hesperus"essay – due tomorrow (homework)
Thursday 11/9
1. Take Review Vocabulary Test (units 1 – 3)
2. Edit "Hesperus" essay
3. Pass out Great Expectations book
4. Type "Hesperus" essay MLA format (homework)
Friday 11/10
1. Review Vocabulary Test
2. Edit essay
3. Read and discuss pages 753 – 756 The Novel and introduction to Great Expectations
4. Read first three chapters of Great Expectations (homework)
